Northwell Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) has recently announced the appointment of Laura Campisi as the associate executive director of operations for the Prince's Bay campus. With almost two decades of experience in health care administration, Campisi is set to manage hospital operations and lead the strategic development of the campus, enhancing its status as a specialized surgical facility serving the Staten Island community.
Campisi has a strong background in leadership within several prominent New York health systems. Her previous role was as vice president of hospital and service line program development at Northwell Lenox Hill Hospital. In this position, she was integral to advancing clinical initiatives such as expanding maternal-child health services and developing a surgical program for inflammatory bowel disease. She also co-founded the Perioperative Redesign Committee, which implemented a pre-surgical evaluation program across Northwell Health.
"Laura brings an extraordinary combination of operational expertise and visionary leadership to our Prince’s Bay campus," stated Brahim Ardolic, MD, president of SIUH. "Her extensive experience in hospital and ambulatory operations will be instrumental in advancing access and care for our community."
In her past work, Campisi achieved success by expanding gender affirmation services, managing major renovation projects, and enhancing referral networks to improve care continuity. As vice president of ambulatory operations for Northwell’s Western Region, she was pivotal in developing new multispecialty centers, optimizing telehealth amid the Covid-19 pandemic, and better aligning hospital and ambulatory strategies. Before that, she was executive director of the surgery service line at Nuvance Health, where she managed and integrated surgical services across the system.
A resident of Staten Island, Campisi holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial and organizational psychology from Brooklyn College. She is pursuing a doctorate in health administration from Trident University. Campisi is also an active member of Deloitte’s Rising Leaders Collective and has participated in committees such as the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
“Staten Island is my home, and I’m deeply committed to advancing the health and well-being of our community,” Campisi remarked. “I’m honored to join the incredible team at Prince’s Bay as we continue to elevate the level of care and services available to Staten Islanders.”
