Staten Island University Hospital has been awarded a three-star rating by The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for its coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) procedures. This places the hospital among the top 20% of cardiac surgery programs in both the United States and Canada.

The STS rating is highly regarded in healthcare, measuring various factors such as survival rates, complications, and adherence to best practices. Staten Island University Hospital achieved a 99.0% composite score for isolated CABG procedures and reported a 98.8% absence of operative mortality.

SIUH's rating highlights its "commitment to world-class heart care" at the Lois & Richard Nicotra Heart Institute, a part of Northwell Health’s Cardiovascular Institute.
