Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis has expressed her intention to collaborate with the National Park Service to find a new operator for the Aviator Sports & Events Center at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn.
Malliotakis emphasized the importance of the Aviator Sports Center, describing it as "an important facility providing recreational opportunities for our youth and community." Even though the venue is outside her district, it is frequented by many of her constituents.
She highlighted the urgency to secure a new operator before the lease ends to avoid jeopardizing the upcoming sports leagues and teams. "With many sports leagues set to begin their next season around the time the lease ends, the future of these youth teams will be jeopardized without an alternative—making it imperative that a new operator is selected as soon as possible to ensure minimal disruption to our community," Malliotakis stated.
This action aims to secure the continuity of sports activities and programming essential to the community.
