Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis has expressed her support for CMA CGM's significant investment in the United States, highlighting a $300 million expansion at Port Liberty. The initiative is expected to enhance the port's capacity and create 300 union jobs.

"This is a big win for Staten Island as this private investment will bring $300 million to Port Liberty to expand the port’s capacity, creating 300 good-paying union jobs," stated Malliotakis. She emphasized that this commitment represents a pivotal move towards revitalizing the domestic maritime industry and boosting America's competitiveness by fostering investment in ports, infrastructure, and waterways.

Malliotakis noted her role in securing federal funding for maritime infrastructure during her congressional tenure. "I’m proud to have helped deliver critical federal funding for our waterways and maritime infrastructure during my time in Congress that has made Staten Island’s port more attractive," she said.

Reflecting on past efforts, she mentioned a 2023 event where she hosted a bipartisan group of House Ways and Means colleagues at Global Container Terminals in Staten Island for discussions on trade and supply chain security. Malliotakis also acknowledged former President Trump's leadership in improving shipping and maritime industries crucial to Staten Island.
