Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis has expressed her approval of President Trump's decision to stop New York City's Congestion Pricing scheme. In a statement, she credited both the President and Transportation Secretary Duffy for fulfilling their promise to review and halt the initiative.
"We thank President Trump and Transportation Secretary Duffy for keeping their promise to examine and halt New York City's Congestion Pricing scheme," Malliotakis stated. She emphasized that the congestion tax was approved by the Biden Administration without conducting necessary environmental studies as required by federal law under the National Environmental Policy Act.
Malliotakis highlighted Trump's understanding of the issue's impact on New Yorkers. "President Trump is a New Yorker who understands the negative impact this additional toll had on my constituents, local businesses, and our city's economy," she said. She noted that since discussions with Trump began last May, he consistently committed to stopping what she described as a "cash grab" upon assuming office.
The Congresswoman views this development as beneficial for commuters. "Today's actions are a victory for hardworking, taxpaying commuters who have been unfairly burdened by this toll," she concluded, reaffirming her stance against policies that impose financial burdens on New Yorkers.
