Malliotakis launches essay contest for young students in New York's 11th district

Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis has announced the commencement of her annual President's Day Essay Contest. The contest is open to students in grades 3-5 who either live in or attend school within New York's 11th Congressional District. Participants are encouraged to express their ideas on how they would improve their community and country if they were President of the United States.

"I am pleased to announce this year's President's Day Essay Contest," stated Congresswoman Malliotakis. "Each year, my office receives hundreds of essays from students across Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn. This contest provides a valuable opportunity for students to learn more about our government and challenges facing our community."

The winners will be awarded a certificate of recognition, a gift card to a local bookstore, and an invitation to a pizza party where they can discuss their ideas with Congresswoman Malliotakis.

Key details of the contest include:

- Submission deadline: Friday, February 28, 2025

- Eligibility: Students in grades 3-5 residing or attending school in New York's 11th Congressional District

- Word limit: Essays must not exceed 400 words

Essays should be submitted via email to NY11YouthEngagement@mail.house.gov. Submissions must include the student's first and last name, school, grade, class, along with parent or guardian's name and contact information.
