On November 17, 2024, Nicole Malliotakis expressed gratitude to Michael for his long-standing service to the city, stating: "We thank Michael for his decades of service to our city. Congratulations on your retirement!"

Later that day, she acknowledged an award received from the Richmond Masonic Association. She stated: "There’s no greater honor than being recognized by my constituents for the good work my staff & I do. Serving Staten Island and Southern Brooklyn is a great privilege and I thank the Richmond Masonic Association for this award."
