Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis has issued a statement following the announcement that former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo will testify before the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic on Tuesday, September 10.

"The upcoming September 10 hearing by the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic will give the public an opportunity to hear directly from Governor Andrew Cuomo about the failed decisions of his administration that led to thousands of deaths in New York’s nursing homes," said Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis. "The mandate forcing nursing homes to accept COVID-positive patients, even after alternatives were available including the US Navy Ship Comfort, the Javits Convention Center, and Staten Island’s South Beach Psychiatric Center located in my district, proved to be deadly and was not in compliance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidance."

"To this day, neither Governor Cuomo nor former New York State Health Commissioner Howard Zucker have taken responsibility for the mandate issued under their letterhead and have tried to blame it on an unknown low-level staff member at the New York State Department of Health, who is yet to be identified. Both Congress and the public deserve answers and our Committee expects to get them at this hearing."
