Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) has criticized New York Governor Kathy Hochul for making what she describes as disrespectful remarks about New Yorkers, particularly Trump supporters. In a statement released today, Malliotakis highlighted several instances where she believes Hochul has shown disdain for her constituents.
"Once again the governor is insulting her constituents in a reoccurring pattern of arrogance and disrespect," Malliotakis stated. "First she told New York Republicans to 'jump on a bus and head down to Florida' where they belong, then she said Black kids in the Bronx don't know what a computer is, and now she’s calling her Trump-supporting constituents in the Bronx 'clowns.'"
Malliotakis accused Hochul of hypocrisy, stating that while the governor preaches tolerance and acceptance, she repeatedly insults those who disagree with her political views. "These comments are unbecoming of any elected leader, particularly a governor who represents one of the largest states in our union," Malliotakis added.
The congresswoman called on Governor Hochul to apologize to New York City residents who attended a recent rally because they support secure borders, safe streets, and oppose Democratic policies that they believe have made their city, state, and nation less affordable and less secure.
