Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) has revealed the victorious students from Staten Island in her 2024 Presidents' Day Essay contest. The competition, open to elementary school students in grades three through five from New York’s 11th Congressional district, tasked participants with outlining ways to enhance their community if they were President of the United States.

Malliotakis commended the students, stating, "From securing our borders, keeping litter off our streets, to lowering the cost of prescription drugs, cutting taxes and increasing the number of police officers on duty, these Staten Island students effectively shared their thoughts on everyday problems impacting Americans." She expressed her delight in meeting with the students and discussing their ideas, hoping that the contest ignites a passion for positive change and civic engagement in the young minds.

The winners of the contest received gift cards to Barnes and Noble for their outstanding work and were granted the opportunity to attend a reception with Congresswoman Malliotakis to elaborate on their ideas.
