Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis released a statement today following an incident of vandalism at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.
"Yesterday afternoon, a man was walking around Brooklyn's Bensonhurst neighborhood damaging cars and city property with a hammer. He then proceeded to St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church on 20th Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway, where he desecrated statues and smashed the glass on the church's doors," Malliotakis stated. "I’m saddened by this hateful act against a Catholic church in our community and I'm thankful to the NYPD for quickly apprehending this violent individual. Our office has been in contact with the NYPD and the church’s pastor regarding this incident and we urge the district attorney to hold the perpetrator accountable and to the fullest extent possible under the law."
The congresswoman emphasized her gratitude towards law enforcement for their swift action in detaining the suspect involved in these acts of vandalism.
