(BROOKLYN, NY) – Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) today announced the Brooklyn winners of her 2024 Presidents' Day Essay contest. The competition invited elementary school students in grades three through five from across New York’s 11th Congressional district to share their ideas on improving their community if they were President of the United States.

"From combatting inflation and human trafficking, to lowering the cost of prescription drugs, to fighting for animal rights and increasing police presence in our community to reduce crime, these Brooklyn students effectively shared their thoughts on everyday problems impacting Americans," Malliotakis said. "It was a pleasure to meet with them and discuss their ideas, and it's my hope that this contest sparks a passion for positive change and civic engagement that continues to grow throughout their academic careers."

The first and second-place winners were awarded gift cards to Barnes and Noble for their outstanding work and were given the opportunity to attend a reception with the Congresswoman to further elaborate on their ideas.
