Northwell’s Staten Island University Hospital has named Yevgeniy A. Korshunov, MD, as the new director of orthopedics. Dr. Korshunov, who is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with a focus on adult hip and knee reconstruction, will oversee the hospital’s orthopedic service line, total joint reconstruction program, and ambulatory surgery center. His responsibilities include managing clinical operations, leading a multidisciplinary care team, and promoting surgical innovation and patient-centered care. He will also work to improve the patient experience during the joint replacement process and maintain high standards for care, safety, and surgical outcomes.

Before joining Staten Island University Hospital, Dr. Korshunov worked at New York Orthopedics, where he specialized in complex joint replacement and revision surgery. He has experience with advanced technologies and artificial intelligence systems for robotic-assisted procedures. Dr. Korshunov is also involved in patient education using digital platforms such as PatientIQ and works with pain management teams to improve care for high-risk patients. He continues to provide education and mentorship to residents and clinical staff to support excellence in orthopedic medicine.

“Dr. Korshunov is an accomplished surgeon, educator and researcher, whose expertise and leadership are invaluable to our hospital,” said Brahim Ardolic, MD, president of Northwell’s Metro Market. “His appointment reflects our continued commitment to building one of the region’s premier destinations for advanced orthopedic care.”
