Nicole Malliotakis, serving as a U.S. Congresswoman for New York’s 11th district since 2021, has recently shared her perspectives on several issues via Twitter. Her statements address matters concerning Cuba, healthcare, and public safety in urban areas.
On April 24, 2025, Malliotakis expressed concern over the situation in Cuba “11 million Cubans are suffering under an oppressive Communist regime…As a Cuban-American, it is my hope we will soon see a free Cuba and right now the best way we can support the Cuban people in their quest for freedom is by providing satellite internet so information, protests” (2025-04-24). The tweet indicates her proposition for increased access to satellite internet as a means of support for the Cuban people.
In another tweet posted later the same day, she reflected on a healthcare initiative. She stated, “If a program that costs $10 million a year has saved an estimated $35.2 billion in medical costs and improved the healthcare and lives of post-menopause women, it is not wasteful. This decision should be reversed and a more thoughtful and deliberative approach to identifying” (2025-04-24). This underscores her stance on the value of spending in healthcare to achieve greater savings and life quality improvements.
Further, Malliotakis addressed public safety concerns on the same day, advocating for regulatory changes concerning helicopter flights. She tweeted, “We’re calling on @USDOT and @FAANews to BAN non-essential helicopter flights over residential communities in municipalities of 5 million or more. Tours like @HeliNY_ are not only a noisy nuisance for neighborhoods on #StatenIsland, it’s clearly a public safety risk too!” (2025-04-24). Her call aims at reducing both noise and potential hazards associated with helicopter overflights in densely populated areas.
Nicole Malliotakis, born in New York City and a graduate of Seton Hall University and Wagner College, has been involved in public service since her time in the New York State Assembly representing New York’s 11th District.
