Census Bureau: 5.8% of people in Richmond County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 493,194 citizens living in Richmond County in 2021, 94.2% said they were only one race, while 5.8% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Richmond County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 69.4% or 342,071 individuals. Following them, Asian accounted for 10.4% and totaled 51,336 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Richmond County is 0.2% lower than the state average, which stands at 6%.
