Northwell’s Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) has received major Centers of Excellence grant funding from New York State to improve behavioral health and addiction services in Staten Island. The $3.5 million in new COE funds, combined with $7 million in previously awarded state capital funding, represents one of the largest investments ever made in mental health, substance use, and pediatric behavioral care for the borough.
This multi-year investment is intended to help SIUH strengthen coordinated behavioral health services for adults, children, and families. The hospital plans to use the funding to address long-standing gaps in care and lower barriers to access by offering integrated, person-centered support at all stages of life.
According to SIUH representatives, “The funding aims to close long-standing gaps in care, reduce barriers to access, and support individuals at every stage of life through integrated, person-centered approaches.”
