Northwell Staten Island University Hospital has announced the appointment of Angela Hanna, MD, as its new director of pediatric surgery. Dr. Hanna will be tasked with overseeing the expansion of pediatric surgical services at the hospital. She plans to increase clinic availability, introduce innovative surgical techniques, and expand the pediatric surgery team to include three surgeons. “She is committed to expanding access to high-quality pediatric surgical care, ensuring that families can get the expert care they need without the burden of traveling far from home,” a statement highlighted.

Dr. Hanna brings 14 years of experience in general pediatric surgery, emphasizing minimally invasive procedures for neonates and children. She has expertise in several areas, including pediatric colorectal surgery, adolescent breast and ovarian diseases, and pediatric trauma. During her career, Dr. Hanna has taken on numerous leadership roles. “Notably serving as trauma medical director, surgical ECMO director, and surgical PICU director at Children’s Nebraska,” the announcement detailed.
