Senator Andrew Lanza, representing Staten Island’s 24th District in the New York State Senate, has voiced concerns on social media regarding transparency and community engagement in city decision-making. In a series of posts dated April 10 and April 11, 2026, Lanza addressed issues related to local governance and celebrated a national achievement.
On April 10, Lanza called for openness from city officials: “We strongly urge the Mayor & Comptroller to immediately provide full transparency on any potential contracts, engage directly with the community and reconsider this plan. Staten Island deserves real solutions, not decisions made behind closed doors that impact our quality of life”.
In another post from the same day, he criticized City Hall’s handling of the migrant crisis: “Since the migrant crisis began in NYC, there has been a troubling lack of transparency and accountability from City Hall. Once again, a major decision affecting our community is being made without public hearings or meaningful consultation with elected officials & local residents”.
The following day, Lanza shifted focus to national news by celebrating the Artemis II mission: “Splash down! America is back. God Bless America. Artemis II crew safely home from historic space mission!”
Lanza is affiliated with both the Republican and Conservative parties and has served as Senate Deputy Minority Leader while participating in several key committees such as Rules, Judiciary, Ethics and Internal Governance, and Cities 1 (official website). His legislative work includes advocacy for school improvements, park expansions, open space preservation on Staten Island, measures against domestic violence and prescription drug abuse, as well as efforts to strengthen crime victim rights. He also marked June 21 as Judicial Independence Day following the creation of Staten Island’s 13th Judicial District.
