Senator Andrew Lanza announced on April 13, 2026, that the National Grid grant portal will temporarily reopen for one week to accept applications for customer assistance.
In a post dated April 13, 2026, Lanza stated, “The fund opens annually in February and closes when the fund is depleted. The program had been closed however I was notified that, for one week only (4/13/2026 to 4/17/2026), the National Grid grant portal will reopen to accept applications for assistance with customer accounts”. He clarified eligibility criteria in a subsequent message: “Customersmay apply once per year when they have exhausted all HEAP assistance and have a current disconnect notice. This grant is only available to residents of Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island who live in a 1-2 family house or pay for heat in their apartment.” On the same date, he added further details about the application process: “Applications are accepted until funds run out. Andrew Lanza represents Staten Island’s 24th District as a New York state senator and has served as Senate Deputy Minority Leader.
