Senator Andrew Lanza, a Republican representing New York’s 24th District and serving as Senate Deputy Minority Leader, used his social media platform in early February to address issues ranging from Black History Month to the state’s affordability challenges.

On February 3, Lanza acknowledged Black History Month with a message on X: “February is Black History Month. We take this month to honor and celebrate the historical figures and moments from African American culture that have contributed to the strength of our nation.”

Two days later, on February 5, he addressed economic concerns facing New Yorkers. In one post, he stated: “New York consistently ranks among the least affordable states in America. New York’s excessively high tax burden is one of the primary contributors to people leaving the State in search of a more affordable place to live and work.” He followed up with another message emphasizing legislative efforts: “My Senate Republican colleagues and I are fighting to pass legislation so you can keep what you’ve earned! To learn more about our work to SAVE NY, view our 2026 legislative agenda here:”

Lanza has advocated for community improvements such as school upgrades, park expansions, and open space preservation on Staten Island (official website). His alignment with both the Republican and Conservative parties has been noted throughout his tenure (official website). In addition to serving as Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Lanza sits on committees including Rules, Judiciary, Ethics and Internal Governance, and Cities 1 (official website).

He represents Staten Island’s 24th District (official website) and has supported legislation aimed at protecting against domestic violence, strengthening crime victim rights, addressing prescription drug abuse, enhancing criminal justice measures, improving technology policy issues, advocating for zoning protections, and expanding recreational spaces within his community (official website).
