Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, who represents New York’s 11th district in the U.S. Congress, announced on March 18, 2026, that the Army will keep the Harbor Defense Museum in Brooklyn open following advocacy from her office and the community.

In a tweet posted at 14:39 UTC, Rep. Malliotakis stated, “After advocacy from our office and community, we are pleased the Army will keep the Harbor Defense Museum in Brooklyn open.”

Later that day at 15:44 UTC, she commented on developments regarding a bipartisan bill to establish a women’s museum. She wrote, “It’s disappointing that after our bipartisan bill to build a women’s museum garnered 230 sponsors & support from @POTUS, Democrats will now oppose it because an amendment passed to ensure only biological women will be exhibited in a women’s museum. Should NOT be controversial!”
