Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH), which is part of Northwell Health, has been awarded $10.5 million in state funding to expand behavioral health and addiction services throughout Staten Island. The funding consists of $3.5 million from Centers for Excellence and an additional $7 million in capital support previously granted.

This multiyear investment will be used to enhance pediatric behavioral health offerings, develop short-term stabilization programs for children waiting for long-term care placements, and improve treatment options for substance use disorders. According to hospital leaders, these efforts are intended to create a more integrated approach that combines mental health, addiction treatment, and physical healthcare while making it easier for residents to access needed services.
