Nicole Malliotakis, currently serving as a U.S. Congresswoman for New York’s 11th district, recently shared several tweets addressing her legislative priorities and critiques of current tax policies. Her statements highlight proposed changes that she argues will benefit senior citizens and taxpayers in her district.
On July 3, 2025, Malliotakis tweeted that “Senior citizens should NOT have to pay taxes on their social security.” She added that a forthcoming bill would ensure “51 million seniors will receive a deduction that ERASES their tax liability on SS income.”
Later the same day, Malliotakis announced another aspect of the proposed legislation through Twitter, stating that “The big beautiful bill QUADRUPLES the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction bringing much-needed relief to 98% of taxpayers in our district.” She criticized the current administration by noting taxpayers have been adversely affected by local Democratic leadership.
In a subsequent tweet on July 3, 2025, she directed comments towards Hakeem Jeffries while emphasizing fiscal responsibility. She asserted “That’s right Hakeem, we work for the American people.” Further elaborating on her stance against government waste, she mentioned efforts to eliminate “waste, fraud & abuse,” aiming to return funds to working Americans and middle-class families through significant tax cuts.
Malliotakis has represented New York’s 11th District since replacing Max Rose in 2021. Before serving in Congress, she was a member of the New York State Assembly from 2011 until her congressional election. Born in New York City in 1980 and residing in Staten Island, she holds degrees from Seton Hall University and Wagner College.
