Nicole Malliotakis, serving in the U.S. Congress for New York’s 11th district since 2021, has shared her views on recent legislative and policy matters through a series of tweets. Representing Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn, she continues to address significant issues affecting her constituents.
On June 4, 2025, Malliotakis announced that the House passed legislation aimed at combating the opioid and fentanyl crisis. The following day, on June 5, 2025, she expressed her stance on maintaining the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction as negotiated in the House. Malliotakis emphasized it is a Republican principle to allow taxpayers to retain more of their earnings without being subjected to double taxation. She specifically mentioned taxpayers in New York and other SALT states. “The State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction negotiated in the House should NOT be altered by the Senate. Later that same day, Malliotakis criticized Governor Kathy Hochul and former Governor Andrew Cuomo for shutting down the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant. According to Malliotakis, this closure resulted in increased utility bills as it once supplied 26% of New York City’s electricity.
