On May 5, 2025, Malliotakis stated that she has been in contact with the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) and Secretary Duffy. She expressed her support for advocating necessary resources to upgrade outdated control tower equipment at Newark Airport and other airports across the country. She emphasized the importance of modernizing technology and urged the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to expedite these efforts.
Later that day, Malliotakis tweeted about an issue concerning three firefighters suffering from 9/11-related illnesses who were awaiting certification for treatment. She mentioned reaching out to the White House and confirmed with the local World Trade Center Healthcare Office that steps were being taken regarding their situation.
On May 6, 2025, she issued a reminder about new travel requirements starting the following day. According to her tweet, travelers will need a REAL ID for domestic flights unless they possess alternative identification such as a passport or military ID.
Malliotakis has served in Congress since replacing Max Rose in 2021. Prior to this role, she was part of the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2021. Born in New York City in 1980, she currently resides in Staten Island and holds degrees from Seton Hall University and Wagner College.
