Nicole Malliotakis, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 11th district, has shared updates on tax legislation via social media. Her tweets highlight recent developments and key features of a new tax relief bill.
On May 13, 2025, Malliotakis noted that “This deduction phases down as adjusted gross incomes increase. For example, senior citizens with an AGI of $125k ($250k married) will receive a $2k/$4k deduction.” This tweet outlines specific financial thresholds and deductions available to senior citizens under the proposed legislation.
Later that day, she tweeted about the overall benefits included in the tax relief bill for various groups. She stated “There is so much good stuff in our @WaysandMeansGOP tax relief bill for working Americans, senior citizens, and middle-class families, but I only had five minutes to speak so here are the highlights…” This suggests her commitment to communicating important legislative changes despite time constraints.
The following day on May 14, 2025, Malliotakis provided further details after a lengthy meeting: “After an 18 hour marathon @waysandmeansGOP meeting, it’s official: Triple the SALT deduction Lower taxes for seniors Increased standard deduction Increased Child Tax credit No return of Alternative Minimum Tax & MORE advance to the Budget Committee!” The message highlights significant aspects such as increased deductions and credits that have progressed to further stages in legislative procedures.
Malliotakis has been serving in Congress since replacing Max Rose in 2021. Prior to this role, she was part of the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2021. Born in New York City in 1980 and currently residing in Staten Island, she holds degrees from Seton Hall University and Wagner College.
