Nicole Malliotakis, U.S. Representative for New York’s 11th district, has recently used her social media platform to address the ongoing government shutdown and its effects, as well as to promote her upcoming media appearance.
On October 8, 2025, Malliotakis posted about the financial and operational impact of the government shutdown, stating, “The #SchumerShutdown has already cost taxpayer $3.2 billion, airport delays, federal employees furloughed & our military going unpaid. Enough!” On the same day, she informed her followers of an upcoming television appearance: “Nicole with be on @NY1’s Inside City Hall with @errollouis tonight at 7pm & 11pm!”
The following morning, Malliotakis referenced public opinion on the shutdown negotiations, posting, “According to a new Harvard poll, 65% of Americans say Democrats should accept Republicans’ clean, nonpartisan continuing resolution…we agree! Let’s reopen the government!”
Malliotakis has represented New York’s 11th district in Congress since 2021, following her tenure in the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2021. She was born in New York City in 1980 and currently resides in Staten Island. Malliotakis holds degrees from Seton Hall University and Wagner College.
