U.S. Representative Nicole Malliotakis, who serves New York’s 11th district, has posted a series of statements on her official X account criticizing Senate Democrats for their role in the recent government shutdown.
On November 6, 2025, Malliotakis stated, “When @SenSchumer & @SenateDems voted to SHUT DOWN the government, they did so knowing it would hurt our citizens, military & federal workers. They should immediately deliver the 7 votes to END this today before it gets even worse.”
Later that day, she followed up with another post: “FACTS: Republicans voted to keep the government OPEN & funded. Democrats voted to SHUT IT DOWN and then voted 13 more times to KEEP it shut down.”
In a third message published in the afternoon of November 6, Malliotakis wrote: “As someone who voted to keep government funded & open, it’s frustrating to see our citizens & federal workers go through unnecessary and avoidable hardship. Our office is open & doing whatever we can to ease the pain inflicted by the #SchumerShutdown.”
Malliotakis has represented New York’s 11th District in Congress since 2021 and previously served in the New York State Assembly from 2011 until her election to Congress. She was born in New York City in 1980 and resides in Staten Island. Her educational background includes degrees from Seton Hall University and Wagner College.
The recent posts are part of an ongoing debate over responsibility for funding lapses leading to partial or full government shutdowns—a recurring issue during budget negotiations between parties.
