U.S. Representative Nicole Malliotakis, who represents New York’s 11th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on social media regarding the ongoing government shutdown and related economic issues.
On October 6, 2025, Malliotakis addressed the financial implications of the government closure, stating, “Not only are taxpayers on the hook for $400 Million a day for each day the #SchumerShutdown continues, but our GDP is taking an economic hit. @SenSchumer can END it by providing the 7 votes needed to fund government at the levels he negotiated & voted for 4x since last year.”
Later that same day, she commented further on legislative priorities once government operations resume: “Open the government. Then let’s find a bipartisan solution that reins in health insurance companies, not just subsidizes them with precious tax dollars.”
