Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis has announced the successful passage of the Big Beautiful Bill, a legislative package she claims will provide significant tax relief and bolster national security. In her statement, Malliotakis highlighted the bill’s benefits for Staten Islanders, Brooklynites, and families nationwide.

“Today is a historic day for Staten Islanders, Brooklynites, and families across the nation who have been calling for meaningful tax relief,” Malliotakis stated. She emphasized that the bill aims to make President Trump’s 2017 tax cuts permanent while providing additional financial benefits such as quadrupling the SALT deduction and eliminating federal taxes on Social Security income for 88% of senior citizens.

The legislation also seeks to increase the standard deduction and expand the Child Tax Credit. According to Malliotakis, these measures are designed to ensure “hardworking Americans keep more of their hard-earned money.”

In addition to tax reforms, the bill includes provisions aimed at reducing government waste by $2 trillion through measures targeting fraud and abuse. It maintains Medicaid protections for vulnerable populations while introducing work requirements for able-bodied adults.

National security is another focus of the bill. It allocates funds for military investments, border barriers, law enforcement hiring, and domestic energy production enhancements. “We also strengthen our national security by investing in our military,” Malliotakis said.

Malliotakis warned that not passing this bill would have resulted in a substantial tax increase on American families and businesses. “Not passing this bill would have jeopardized all these America-First policies,” she noted.

The Big Beautiful Bill contains several key highlights:

– Quadruples the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction.
– Makes permanent increases to the Standard Deduction and Child Tax Credit.
– Provides bonus deductions for seniors’ Social Security benefits.
– Eliminates taxes on certain tips and overtime earnings.
– Supports adoption tax credits, education savings accounts, scholarships, and school choice.
– Protects Medicaid beneficiaries while preventing illegal immigrants from receiving benefits.
– Funds border security measures including personnel hiring and barrier construction.
– Invests in modernizing air traffic control systems and naval fleet upgrades.
– Enhances domestic energy production by rescinding funds from Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act.
