Nicole Malliotakis, U.S. Representative for New York’s 11th district, addressed issues of public safety and economic indicators in a series of posts on February 19, 2026.
In her first statement posted at 13:56 UTC, Malliotakis expressed concern about police staffing levels as the city prepares for significant upcoming events. She wrote, “We are short thousands of police officers compared to September 11, 2001. Cutting public safety on this 25th anniversary with so many events our city will host for America’s 250th and the World Cup is a mistake & I fear the progress made this past year on lowering crime will be”.
Later that day at 17:06 UTC, she commented on recent economic developments by stating, “Lower inflation. Lower interest rates. Lower gas. #Winning”.
Malliotakis continued her focus on economic topics in an evening post at 19:57 UTC, attributing positive changes in core inflation to specific political actions: “Core inflation has seen its lowest level since March 2021 as a result of @POTUS Trump and @HouseGOP reining in runaway spending & driving down gas prices and other costs.”
Malliotakis has represented New York’s 11th congressional district since defeating Max Rose in the 2020 election and assuming office in January 2021. Prior to serving in Congress, she was a member of the New York State Assembly from 2011 to 2021. Born in New York City in 1980 and currently residing in Staten Island, Malliotakis holds degrees from Seton Hall University and Wagner College.
