FOIA Request to College of Staten Island CUNY regarding Public University FY 2024 Employee Salaries on December 5, 2025.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the College of Staten Island CUNY by a representative from the Staten Island Reporter. The request seeks detailed records concerning employee compensation for all individuals employed by the university during Fiscal Year 2024. This request is made under the New York Freedom of Information Law, N.Y. Pub. Off. Law sec. 84 et seq., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format.

The specific records requested include various data fields such as fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth, date of birth, employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount and type, and employment type (full-time or part-time). The request acknowledges that not all fields may be present in every record but asks for all responsive records regardless of completeness. In cases where portions of records are exempt from disclosure, it requests that non-exempt portions be released in redacted form.

The requester has indicated their role as a member of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. They emphasize that access to public records is crucial for fulfilling their professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency. Additionally, they have requested a fee waiver due to their status as a media professional.

This FOIA request is also supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.

Our team will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to this request and other matters of public interest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this matter.
